Richard Goodhall Gallery – A visit

Went to the above named gallery in Manchester yesterday. Finally got a chance to have a proper look around the place, after a few previous attempts had ended in failure due to closed or closing times. Anyway some marvelous art work on the walls and still predominately based on American gig poster artwork. However there now appears to be a UK element creeping in. Which has got me thinking about producing some of my own. First off to use a previous image that I’ve done for a mock Electric Wizard or Blood Ceremony poster. There’s a lot of really lovely work on the walls, one thing that struck me is that the “finish ” that I crave can come from applying art to something, also there’s the more professional elemt of a lot of the work, but I don’t feel as though that is beyond me. So to that end I intend to get off my arse and really start to produce some work. The thought has also struck me about getting in touch with local gig places such as Central Station and running up some posters for their shows.
All good, but I ‘ve got to get on and do. Generaqting ideas isn’t ever a problem getting them properly finished off is. Like the board game I designed last year. A wander around both Forbidden planet and a Role playing games shop was enough to convince me that the game had some mileage. Now that I feel like I’m moving in the right direction I need to crack it open again and properly finish it.

Gods there’s going to be a lot to do this year. also I think I’m going to split my work between two different paths, which may mean I split this blog in two, one for the light path and one for the dark.

Delays in updating this blog, mainly due to a rubbish connection speed. Fist off then is a pic inpsired by the Cramps song “Naked Girl Falling Down the Stairs”. It’s part of the ongoing W.o.W project I’m doing with Shane and Heather. There’s also one to do for John Cooper Clark, “Beasly St” which I have a definite idea for but that has yet to emerge.

Right I’ve been slacking on the update front of late. That I’m having problems getting anything to upload due to extreme slowness of internetivity doesn’t help matters either. Anyway here’s a few word of the week images that I’ve neglected to put up on this blog, they are on the Art of Wow blogpage, just haven’t put on here. Going through another funny path at the moment, doing drawings, but I’m not taking them through to a level of finish, thay are remaining at the sketch level only. Don’t know why….

Hullo, somewhat later than it should have been, here is my word of the week entry for the word CONTACT. I’ve been listening to Coven’s amazing album “Witchcraft Destroys souls and Reaps Minds” and I think it’s had an influence on this image.

Next week it’s VESSEL. Think I’m going to cry.

Word of week time again, after initally thinking tha HERETIC could be a swine of a word, for me it’s ended up being one of the most inspirational. Here the image and sketch of the entry for this week based on an Ordo Hereticus warrior type arse kicker from the Warhammer 40K universe. Or something like that.

Word of the week image for SWEET. Had a few ideas knocking about, but settled on this from Rocky Horror via Smarties. I’m thinking of using it for a T-Shirt design also. See how things work out I suppose.
